Topics:
1. Make sure the Printer has a different Admin password other than the default, change the password if needed based on IT requirements.
2. If printer will be used for scanning to email, make sure to set the following settings which differ by model:
- Network: You can use DHCP ipv4 just make sure to reserve the record in dhcp server. For DNS you will need to use static addresses for google dns servers (Scan to email will have intermittent issues if not statically set).
- Protocol: You will need to enable the SMTP protocol to allow the scan to email feature. We will be using a specific per company account to authenticate to the email service therefore StartTLS will need to be selected as SMTP security.
- Email SMTP settings: With the SMTP protocol turned on you can now configure the Server name, SMTP Port Number, Authentication protocol, Authentication as user (will change based on Company) . At the very bottom under E-mail Send Settings > Sender Address make sure to use the same email address as the authenticated account.
- Network Security: SSL 3.0, TLS1.0 and TLS1.1 are no longer supported protocols for Microsoft data transport. You will need to turn these versions off on the printer to avoid errors. (Setting option will vary by printer model)
